Description

Situated up a private track, tucked between a woodland and a sweeping valley with views stretching to the Severn Estuary and Wales, Gurt Yurt and Batch Belles Campsite offer a peaceful escape into nature. Whether you're looking for a luxurious glamping experience or prefer the simplicity of wild camping, this site provides both against the backdrop of magnificent sunsets and starlit skies.

Gurt Yurt
Located in the Mendip Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, our yurt sits secluded in a private corner of the meadow, inviting frequent visits from local deer and serenades by wild birds. It features a king-sized brass bed with Egyptian cotton bedding and a skylight for stargazing. Equipped with a wood-burning stove and an electric blanket, the yurt remains cosy on chilly nights. The veranda is perfect for watching the sun dip below the horizon and hammocks are available for relaxing outdoors. Private amenities include a hot shower, wash house and a compost toilet, alongside a kettle, toaster and a single hot plate for convenience.

Bell Tents
There are four bell tents available, that each sleep six, they have hot water & electricity, an electric blanket and a wood burning stove.

Wild Camp
Each wild camping pitch at Batch Campsite comes with its own firepit and we offer "Firestarter" packs or logs for £6, though you're welcome to bring your own wood. Facilities are basic with toilets and a tap with drinking water. Shared fridge space is available, and all waste is recycled or disposed of by us. Parking is 50 metres from the campfield, with wheelbarrows provided to transport your gear.

Local Area
This small and friendly site is ideally situated high in the Mendips, close to attractions like Cheddar, Wells, Wookey Hole, The Somerset Levels, Weston-super-Mare and Brean Down. It’s within walking distance of several rustic pubs, a village shop and a quality fish and chip shop. Larger supermarkets are also within a short drive or walk. Surrounded by woodland, it’s a haven for wildlife including deer, badgers, foxes, buzzards, and even polecats. Though secluded, the site offers easy access to the A38 and transport links to Bristol (30 minutes away) and the South West. The area is rich with activities like hiking, cycling, mountain biking, climbing, caving and even skiing and tobogganing at the nearby Mendip Outdoor Pursuits dry ski slope.

Guest Information
Families, well-behaved dogs (except in the yurt) and groups of friends are all welcome, ensuring everyone can enjoy this serene getaway where nature meets comfort.
